Aranjuez Strawberry Train 2026
Travelling to Aranjuez on the historic Strawberry Train is far more than a journey: it's a chance to relive one of Spain's most storied rail experiences, with period carriages, hosts in traditional costume and the famous on-board strawberry tasting. Here is all the 2026 information you need.
A little history: Spain's second railway
The Madrid–Aranjuez line opened in 1851 and was the second railway on the Iberian Peninsula (after Barcelona–Mataró). It was driven by the Marquis of Salamanca to link the capital with the Royal Site, and quickly became famous for bringing the strawberries grown around Aranjuez to Madrid. The current Strawberry Train, running since 1984, recreates that journey with historic rolling stock and is today one of the most beloved outings of the Madrid spring.
